I’m pleased to have a new drawing included in Divergent Thinking, juried by Jane Young of Chase Young Gallery in Boston, at Fountain Street Fine Art Gallery.

I have also had the honor of being one of two curators for this exhibition! The work is diverse and explores methods in developing creative ideas. It is not to be missed!

Hexaptych

Hexaptych is made up of six 8″ x 10″ framed charcoal, graphite, and gold leaf drawings. This work began back in 2009 and was originally one large drawing. The method of creation started off as a full body dance with charcoal, which was intended as an exercise to loosen and allow myself to think outside my normal approach to drawing. Once the expressive and immediacy of the charcoal drawing was complete, I began to meticulously add graphite. The finishing touches were added later with gold leaf.

Over the years, this piece took on multiple orientations, sizes and shapes. The finished piece today is framed in six individual 8″ x 10″ frames, and is intended to be installed in a corner with two sections adjacent to the other four. Or if you are feeling experimental, three pieces on the ceiling (or floor) and the others on the wall. The use of the room’s architecture is to further experiment with movement, as well as to create a dialog with the three dimensional space in which it was created.
